- Caveat emptor, or buyers beware, is the primary guideline for closing deals in the English speaking world. For that reasons investors have use due diligence to check that they are buying something sane. This is in contrast to other countries like Germany, where the guideline is culpa in contrahendo. It means that the seller has to ensure his product is sane.
